The BYOM Approach

This is the second method for configuring the deployment details in BuildPiper. The product allows users to bring their own custom manifest file. To configure deployment details using this approach, you need to follow the below steps after signing into the BuildPiper User Portal.

Bring Your Own Manifest File (BYOM)#

"Bring your own manifest file" (BYOM) is an approach to deploying applications and services that involves providing a manifest file with all the configuration details needed for deployment. The manifest file contains all the required settings, parameters, and dependencies that the application or service needs to run.

The BYOM approach allows developers and operators to have full control over the deployment process, since they can specify all the required configuration details in the manifest file.

With BuildPiper, you can easily configure the CD details by uploading your custom manifest file. If you already have Manifest file or a Helm Chart and Values file, you can provide the file or the Git URL and File/Folder path. The product will use these manifest details to streamline the deployment process.

How you can Configure Deployment details via BYOM Approach?#

You can follow these simple steps for configuring the deployment details via the BYOM Approach.

  • Enter the Deployment Name.
  • Specify a Service Name.
  • Add an Image Name.
  • Define Raw Key-Value pairs. In case you don't have files in your Git Version Control where you can manage all system configurations, you can use the product to manage configurations by defining raw Key-Value pairs . Click "Add Row"if you want to add more Key-Value pairs.
